Traffic on U.S. Highway 83 to be impacted by 55th Street Project Posted on 4/26/2012
Electrical work on a portion of the 55th Street NE Bypass Project will impact traffic passing through the intersection of U.S. Highway 83 and 46th Ave. NW in Minot early next week. Weather pending, drivers can expect the intersection signal at this location to be inoperable for most of the day on Monday, April 30, starting at roughly 8 a.m. During this time flaggers will handle traffic from each direction. Northbound and southbound traffic on Highway 83 will be moved to the inside lane and the speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph to ensure safety. Crews will be moving an electrical junction box to allow for 46th Ave. to be widened on the east side of this intersection.
The Northeast Bypass will be made as a result of upgrades to County Road 10A, 46th Avenue NE, and 55th Street NE. The 55th Street NE Bypass project has reduced traffic speeds from 45 mph to 25 mph throughout the construction zone.
As a reminder, the driving public is encouraged to exercise extra caution throughout the construction zone to ensure their safety and the safety of the crews.
The City of Minot, Ward County and the NDDOT are all partners in the 55th Street Northeast Bypass project.
