Project Overview

The City of Minot is planning improvements to 16th St SW from 14th Ave SW to 2nd Ave SW.   The corridor has been split into two segments for environmental evaluation, design, and construction:

• South Project (2025 construction):  16^th St SW from 14^th Ave SW to Burdick Expy (including Burdick intersection)
• North Project (tentatively 2028 or 2029 construction):  16^th St SW from Burdick Expy to 2^nd Ave SW
• Nov 2023 Public Information Meeting Materials and Visualizations

 
These projects are needed to: 

• Replace the asphalt pavement with new concrete pavement from 14th Ave to Burdick Expy, and from 7th Ave to 5th Ave
• Reconstruct the Burdick Expressway intersection with new concrete pavement 
• Perform spot repairs on the existing concrete pavement from Burdick Expy to 7th Ave, and from 5th Ave to 2nd Ave 
• Evaluate options to improve lane configurations, roadway geometry, and corridor traffic operations 
• Upgrade pedestrian and bicycle facilities 

Industry Recognition

The City of Minot’s 16th Street SW project was selected as a 2025 Gold Star Award winner in the Street Paving category by the North Dakota Ready Mix & Concrete Products Association and the North Dakota Chapter of the American Concrete Pavement Association, recognizing excellence in concrete construction. This annual award reflects the project’s innovation and quality and celebrates the teamwork of the City of Minot and its project partners.
